A licensed educator, holds a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership, with a concentration in psychology, sociology, and social psychology. Her doctoral research explored self-esteem, role expectations, and interpersonal communications as a teacher, principal and school superintendent. The Wall Street Journal called her “a woman warrior who trains executives in Sun Tzu’s The Art of War [She prefers its other translation, “The Art of Strategy.”] as it applies to communications.” Publishing papers in technical and company journals, she delivered some of them abroad.

Always the educator, while offering relationship advice on a local TV network, syndicated television spotted DR. GILDA – and catapulted her from the corporate sector into the pop culture, where she became a recognizable media personality on America’s daytime talk shows. She went on to host her own show as the Love Doc on MTV Online, she wrote relationship columns for Teen and Twist magazines, she became Valentine’s Day Spokesperson for Hallmark Cards, she became the Relationship Expert for Harlequin Enterprises, she wrote the “Dr. Gilda Says” column in Thomson Newspapers’ syndicated “HealthFile,” she was on the advisory board of the National Association for Female Executives, she was the Relationship Expert on WABC’s “Success Radio,” and the Fox network subsidized a pilot for her own syndicated TV show, “Dr. Gilda.” She did the “Shrink Rap” column in Soap Opera Digest, she is on the advisory board of CosmoGIRL!, and she is the Relationship Expert for AMI Mini Mags, the booklets at supermarkets, Wal-Marts and mass merchandiser checkouts. In reality film, she is the therapist in HBO’s Emmy Award winner, “Telling Nicholas” The movie depicts Dr. Gilda’s heart-wrenching task of guiding a grieving family to tell their 7-year-old that his mother died in the World Trade Center attack. In addition to winning an Emmy, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (Academy Awards) named the film one of the 12 most outstanding documentaries of 2002, and segments of the movie aired on Oprah. In “The Working Girl”, she confronts a porn mom on her parenting. In the “Games People Play” series (Games People Play The Movie, she charges young actors with “emotional prostitution” for selling out for fame.
As she challenges people to shine, her unique mix of humor and compassion generate tears, laughter, and standing ovations. The Dean at Mercy College praises DR. GILDA by calling her, “Mother Theresa with lipstick and The Wall Street Journal.” But DR.
