Working with one of the largest mail order nurseries in the world. Their facilities included an on-site post office complete with its own zip code, over one mile of automated conveyer lines, and an order processing department that handled 10,000+ orders per day during the spring rush. All promotions were produced by their in-house advertising department which was under Lon’s supervision.
Paramount International Coin asked Lon to join them as Director of Marketing for their multi-national corporation. Paramount was the marketing representative of 26 foreign governments, owned six foreign subsidiaries and sold products in over 80 countries around the world. In addition to coordinating ad campaigns produced by a number of multinational advertising agencies, Lon’s responsibilities included directing an in-house ad agency of 18 professionals and a mailing facility that sent out hundreds of thousands of pieces each week.
Lon became Operations Manager of the Direct Marketing Division of Teledyne Water Pik, a position he held until 1981.
