Rev. Tony Borders believes in visual comedy that always has a moral to the story. Known internationally for his ventriloquism and puppetry skills. He is known in the public school system as the V.I.P. assembly speaker, ventriloquist, illusionist, and puppeteer. The children call him, The funny guy with the bear!
Gladly the Cross-Eyed Bear is a four foot tall ventriloquist’s sidekick who, comes to life, in Borders’ hands. He is definitely the hit of the show and has taken on a life of his own in my skit writing. Borders has written skits for several professional ventriloquists across the country and was a creative consultant and writer for several. He has a cast of other cloth and foam actors who can join him, depending on the audience and topic. Singing Sam is one of the few puppets in the country who moonwalks, spins, and boogies to Contemporary Christian parodies of popular songs. Junior Junior and Junior Senior (father and son country bumpkins) are a hoot as they comically modernize Biblical themes and stories. Pretty Priscilla is the sensible one of the group and keeps the puppets and audience on track.
Borders was a school teacher for 5th grade and up, so although his visual aids (magic, costumes, and props) hold the attention of the youngest children his humor and message are greatly appreciated by older students and adults. Rev. Borders stopped counting the number of live performances when he reached 3,000.
If you have children in the audience your group will love Tony Borders visual variety of magic, puppets, and ventriloquism. Adults appreciate the lessons that go hand in hand with the laughter they hear from children of all ages! Each show gives children what they want: variety and lessons for life!
