His Majesty King Kigeli V, has created a diverse array of humanitarian programs.
His Majesty Jean Baptiste Ndahindurwa, son of King Yuhi Musinga and of Mukashema was born on 29th June 1936 in Kamembe, south west Rwanda.
After the death of his brother King Mutara, on June 27th 1959, Jean-Baptiste Ndahindurwa acceded to the throne of Rwanda as King Kigeli V.
In 1961, during an official visit to meet the Secretary General of the United Nations (the late Dag Hammarskjold) in Kinshasa the Belgian Government refused to allow his return, effectively forcing him into exile.
Since 1992 the King has resided in the USA where he has continued his work with refugees and charitable causes.
Upon his arrival in the USA, His Majesty established The King Kigeli V Foundation. Through this organization he has been able to help African refugees and in 1994 His Majesty spoke in the United Nations Chamber and to Congress warning of the imminent genocide; alas his words fell on deaf ears.
Since then His Majesty has traveled extensively speaking on behalf of the all Rwandan people; calling for peace and harmony between the different groups.
King Kigeli continues to remember all the victims of the Genocide in Rwanda and constantly strives for reconciliation across political, ethnic, and religious lines, promoting democracy to solve problems.
Through the inception of the new Royal Secretariat His Majesty hopes to further help the welfare and well-being for all the peoples of Africa.
