Nicole Battjes is an accomplished helicopter pilot and tour company owner in Honolulu, HI. Her story is inspiring about how she started with one helicopter. She had a kiosk alongside a main Honolulu Hwy and sold tickets, drove the passengers to the airport in an old van, and then flew the helicopter for the tour, narrating along the way. Today, her company operates eight helicopters and employs 50 people, including pilots, mechanics, and support staff.
In August 2023, the devastating fires destroyed the Maui township of Lahaina. Nicole and her pilots flew in relief supplies for the residents of Lahaina, which was cut off from other parts of Maui. Nicole and her team provided supplies that specifically addressed the needs of mothers with newborn babies and young children. Relief items included breast milk, baby formula, diapers, and other supplies. Nicole and her pilots made a dozen trips to the Lahaina area from Honolulu.
She set up a GoFundMe page, which raised over 90 thousand dollars to cover the cost of the supplies. Nicole provided her company’s helicopters for free.
