Amitai Etzioni for Communitarian Policy Studies. He served previously as a professor of sociology. He also was a guest scholar at the Brookings Institution, a senior advisor to the White House and the Thomas Henry Carroll Ford Foundation Professor at Harvard Business School. Dr. Etzioni served as the president of the American Sociological Association and was the founding president of the international Society for the Advancement of Socio-Economics. He also founded the Communitarian Network, dedicated to shoring up the moral, social and political foundations of society, and has become known in the press as the “guru” of the communitarian movement. Dr. Etzioni is the author of 24 books. He earned a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of California, Berkeley, and is the recipient of several awards in his field. His voice is heard frequently in the media.
