Darrell D. Andrews is an expert on educator motivation and youth leadership.
Provides motivational programs to educators and others who work with youth to give them the information they need to continue to infuse hope and passion in the lives of youth. Darrell, providing job-readiness skills, life skills and soft skills training to students. Story of personal triumph is featured in Chicken Soup for the African-American Soul. As an educational expert, he shares strategies which help schools inspire youth to succeed, close achievement gaps and improve school climate. Darrell knows personally about overcoming challenges, disappointments and setbacks.
As the son of a high school dropout and a single mother on welfare, he became a three-sport all-star in high school, the captain of his college football team and the first in his family to graduate from college. But his passion for more out of life compelled him to pack everything he owned into five garbage bags and hop on a bus to a city where he had never been with a one-way ticket and 42 dollars in his pocket. When reflecting on the experience, Darrell states, I didn’t know where I was going, but it had to be better than where I was. Once a prospect for the Philadelphia Eagles and the San Francisco 49ers, he decided that making a real impact on others by teaching his principles for personal success, overcoming obstacles and embracing change was his passion.
This program emphasized dealing with attitudinal issues which may cause a person to repeat the same behaviors which contribute to low morale and high workplace turnover. He has been listening to and working with educators and youth. He is known as The Educator’s Motivator igniting passion in teachers, principals and superintendents. He has personally taught thousands of students how to be confident, responsible and empowered. This community-centered (schools, prevention agencies and government agencies) training program encourages and guides youth to examine their actions by answering the question, How will I determine my personal worth to society? It is this unique blend of personal experience, personal involvement and passionate speaking which makes him such a highly sought after speaker at educational and youth conferences.
