Bob Mignone, BMS and M.D., on comprehensive medicine, designed an education that integrated training in internal medicine, neurology, and psychiatry.
He has worked with sports teams regarding performance skills, and at one point was team physician to a local championship college hockey team.
He studied Acupuncture and combined that modality with behavior modification, relaxation training, stress management and wellness education in a brisk holistic practice.
He again founded a multi-specialty mental health group practice (LICSW, Ph.D., etc), biofeedback specialists, massage therapists, acupuncturists, and general psychiatrists.
Special interests were (and have continued to be) chronic pain, stress medicine, anxiety disorders, sleep disorders, mood disorders, attention disorders, adjustment disorders, and lifestyle coaching.
Spirituality in medicine and the power of faith in healing has been a particular passion.
Dr. Mignone as Top Psychiatrist and published that distinction in their national annual edition of top physicians in America for seven years in a row.
A magazine listed Dr. Mignone every year (from 2003) in their TOP DOCS June issue as the top psychiatrist–voted by peers and other medical professionals/administrators, and based on experience and curriculum vitae.
He has been board certified by the Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
For the past decade he has carried the distinction of Life Fellow, American Psychiatric Association (F.A.P.A.)
He has been the go-to psychiatrist for his peers, and for the region’s mental health, legal, business and educational professionals.
Ordinary Valor, about his surviving prostate cancer and then, six years later, kidney cancer. All turned out well.
He is healthy, high energy and optimistic. Some of his work includes medical-legal consulting (expert witnessing), and he published his second book, Psychiatric Injury, which stands as one of the few available reference sources for the legal and insurance communities dealing with disability and workers Compensation.
Psych Consults, is an educational handbook designed for the healthcare consumer. It informs on all the common conditions and topics, such as ADD/ADHD, Depression, Bipolar I and II, Alzheimer’s, stress, coping with loss, and lifestyle design.
He provides information-packed for practical answers to questions of diagnoses and treatments for youth, adults and seniors.
Bob has been called a gifted speaker and teacher.
He has appeared many times on television and radio. At one point he aired a call-in talk radio show on health topics.
Dr. Mignone is most proud of his strong faith, and his devotion to the care and healing of his patients.
He made good on his belief in mind/body/spirit of health and illness by becoming ordained. At that time he was very involved with medical ethics (chair of hospital ethics committee) and end of life care.
People dying of cancer and other illness often welcomed his non denominational medical ministry in their final chapters.
For several years he conducted regular non-denominational services for support in contending with life crises and dire illness.
To this day his medical ministry continues to blend in imperceptibly with his clinical and administrative work–unless appropriate to bring it explicitly to the fore.
Humor, love and faith form the premise of his personal and professional life. Making life work in the face of adversity can bring out the best in oneself. Indeed, such is the basis for his support and inspiration of people.
