Parish Catechetical Leader
Program Titles
- Team members has been trained as a catechist
Fred Eustis, the director of the Evangelization/Christian Formation team a small multi-cultural parish in the Archdiocese, very intentionally established a process of gathering parishioners following Sunday liturgy.
He has developed a team composed of parishioners which is able to work with him in developing two Sunday catechetical experiences each month.
Each of the team members has been trained as a catechist and continues in further training.
The catechetical experiences are based in the readings of the Sunday liturgies and employ activities that allow young and old to make a connection with their personal experience and that of the community.
Many of these are centered on practices brought from the multicultural backgrounds of the parishioners.
The majority of the gathering time may be given to a skit, play or apparently social activity, but there will be enough process to plant an idea in each participant’s mind or consciousness.
Content for Sacramental Preparation for those who are getting ready to receive sacraments is incorporated into these sessions so that the whole community grows in its understanding of Catholic sacramental life.
“I am deeply moved by the patience and vision Fred has brought to this task and especially his willingness to take on one of the most challenging ministries in today’s Church.”
