Frederick W. Fraunfelder, M.D., M.B.A., Distinguished Professor of Ophthalmology, recognized internationally as a leading expert on drug-induced ocular side effects. A professor/director/chief of ophthalmology, cornea / external disease, ocular oncology, and refractive surgery.
A frequent lecturer on various topics, including cryotherapy for surface eye disease and drug-related ocular side effects.
Dr. Fraunfelder is the director of the National Registry of Drug-Induced Ocular Side Effects and serves as a consultant to the World Health Organization.
He has been chairing the ocular toxicology session of the International Symposium on Ocular Pharmacology and Therapeutics.
His focus on ocular toxicology includes laser vision correction, corneal and external diseases, cryopreservation of corneal transplant tissue, and ocular oncology.
Dr. Fraunfelder was awarded a Coulter grant for his research on cryopreservation of corneal transplant tissue.
