Greg Shulkin contracted bacterial menengitis while a student … he’s suffered a stoke … he’s partially paralyzed … legally blind … had a heart attack that left him dead for 12 minutes and has had a kidney transplant.
Today – he owns his own business … has written a book entitled “Stroke of Luck”… is a motivational speaker and was chosen to be an Olympic Torch Bearer.
If you are looking for something very different … that will bring a tear to your eye, that will address bullying, that will talk about forgiveness, that will demonstrate the resilience of human spirit in body and mind … then get this guy to come to your organization.
You’ll want to laugh and cry all at the same time. The audience did not want the assembly to end …
Greg wanted to have as much interaction with the students as possible. They were allowed to hold his torch, pose for pictures with him, ask him the most personal of questions … they were enthralled.
I know that I sound “over-the-top” right now …. but, I’ve been around for a while and it takes something really special to get me excited. Greg is the real deal.
Greg Shulkin, contracting meningitis without warning at the age of 18 forced me to face many potentially overwhelming obstacles.
At the time, my doctors gave me little chance of survival. In fact, I survived, thrived and graduated university – all against the odds.
How I proved them wrong is precisely the focus of the motivational presentations that I make to audiences of all kinds.
Focused on overcoming the challenges presented by my illness and rehabilitation, I now make intimate public presentations on these same topics.
While at times it was tempting to just give in, the support of friends and family enabled me to persevere and overcome, learning many important “life lessons” in the process.
The thesis of my presentation is the importance of attitude in coping with challenge, passionately illustrating how quality support and positive thinking produce the perseverance necessary to overcome any challenge life presents.
It will undoubtedly serve to motivate your group, stimulate them to appreciate aspects of their life they may otherwise take for granted, ultimately delivering a positive and uplifting message.
