Mr. Joaquin Antuña is Founder of Peace and Cooperation. Peace and Cooperation is a non-governmental organization that promotes a movement of non-violence and creativity to build a world of solidarity. It is involved in global peace education, human rights, development, and solidarity actions, and its public awareness campaigns have emphasized students and educators. More than one million students and teachers, from 75 countries, have participated in the Peace and Cooperation School Award. Peace and Cooperation was granted Special Consultative Status with ECOSOC.
In Spain, Mr. Antuña is known as a pioneer in development and education for peace. An avid traveller, who also has lived in Germany, Italy and Mexico, as well as his native Spain, his life took a dramatic turn when he discovered the “world problematique” through conversations with Mother Teresa, which propelled him to put concrete form to his vision. Mr. Antuña has written numerous articles, has directed a radio program, and has presented and directed a television program. He has published Verso il Duemila (in italian), The Strategy of Hope, Fifty Ideas for Peace , a video book titled Another Humanity, Third Millennium (in Spanish) which was taken from his television program of the same name, and The Art of Creating an NGO: Opening Breach . Mr. Antuña speaks and writes five different languages. He studied with the Jesuits and received his masters in Law in the Complutense University of Madrid. He carried out his postgraduate studies in France, in the prestigious Institut d´Etudes Politiques of Paris.
