Laurence M. Gartel is a founding “Pioneer” of the Digital Art movement. Gartel could also be considered the father of the paintbox era, who actually started this technique 10 years prior to any software being written for painting and photo-manipulation.
Gartel used digital synthesizers, TVs and then output photographically as a dye sub & Polaroid prints. It was also 10 years before Warhol did his Amiga prints of Deborah Harry.

Laurence Gartel is “THE OFFICIAL ARTIST OF THE 57th ANNUAL GRAMMY AWARDS!”
His artwork was on the Official Invitation, program, poster, VIP Tickets, as well as all promotions. He literally “wrapped” the one-of-a-kind large scale Grammy with the same material that he “wraps” his ART CARS with.
Commissioned by TESLA to create an Electric Art Roadster during Art Basel Miami Beach. The Art Car received so much attention that it went viral on the internet to over 25,000 websites.
Gartel was the “FEATURE” of the 103rd New York International Auto Show with my own Pavilion of 30,000 square feet filled with Art Cars and Motorcycles.
He created a $200,000 Renntech Mercedes SL 65 V-12 Art Car and unveiled at exclusive Fisher Island during Art Basel Miami Beach once again. – This car was shipped to Los Angeles for Gartel to drive around during the Grammys.
Spotted by celebrities the car was re-posted tens of thousands of times on Instagram and Facebook.

Gartel had the opportunity to teach Andy Warhol how to use the Amiga Computer, went to School of Visual Arts, with fellow art student, grafitti artist, where he earned his BFA degree majoring in Graphics.
Gartel had many associations with musicians such as
Debbie Harry (Blonde) Sid Vicious (Sex Pistols), Stiv Bators (Dead Boys) Johnny Thunders (New York Dolls) Ace Frehley (Kiss) and Wendy O Williams (Plasmatics).
Gartel has created artwork for such Pop Culture stars such as
Justin Timberlake
Britney Spears.
Gartel was included in the Italian Art History Textbook:
“La Storia Dell Arte”.
Michelangelo at the front of the book and GARTEL being the last page representing “NEW VISUAL LANGUAGES.”
Digital Media Artist, GARTEL produced a master art work by collaging camera phone images that were being sent to him from people in different cities from around the world. Each person held up a newspaper of the day and sent it to a website where GARTEL was able to grab the images and adjust them into the final work of art.
The “5-MINUTE WORLD”: Gartel produced the work in front of the entire Summit audience and produced the master print “LIVE.”
