Mark served as an Army officer on two combat tours with 22 years of active duty.
After retiring as Lt. Colonel, Mark McMillion started his own company on communication, accountability, respect, and trust, creating the foundation of his leadership practice. These four pillars of leadership are critically necessary to build a positive, healthy leadership climate, great teams, and performance excellence.
Mark infuses these themes into his work, whether talking about your leadership voice, how to have meetings that matter, or creating excellent performance feedback. As a result, he’s helped companies across the country.
He helps leaders acquire the skills and abilities necessary to improve their organizations.
Mark helps senior leaders clarify and communicate their strategic vision and shape their organizational culture.
He helps mid-level management develop the skills necessary to take them and their team to the next level of performance.
Mark helps emerging leaders develop those critical skills necessary to be a supervisor, whether they are one now or being groomed to move up. The seeds of leadership are in nearly everyone.
He doesn’t make leaders. He makes them better.
Mark taught in the Department of Behavior Sciences and Leadership at West Point and in the Leadership Studies program at a university.
Mark is also a professional writer.
He has a bachelor’s degree from West Point and a master’s in Cognitive Systems Engineering.
“Mark ranks among the very best speakers I’ve ever encountered. His speeches on the topics of leadership management, along with developing future leaders, have influenced industry leaders across the engineering field. Mark is an electrifying public speaker. His passion for the subject matter is infectious. In addition, mark has the profound professional expertise, which shows; he draws on his career as a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army.”
“Mark McMillion has provided our company Leadership Training several times over the past few years. Mark listens to the organization’s needs and tailors the training well. He has always provided relevant and on-point information to our leadership group professionally. He adds a lot of personal experiences to the activity, which brings trust to the movement. Mark is an excellent resource for leadership training.”
“On leadership at our premier leadership academy, I immediately thought of Mark with his decades of military leadership experience and education. His succinct leadership lesson was so well received by our group of 400 high school students that I continue to invite him back each year. Mark captures the boys’ attention and quickly imparts concrete leadership values and techniques each can employ.”
