Paul M. Evans, Ph.D., Director, Program on Canada-Asia Policy Studies, Global Issues and Asia Pacific Studies. Some of his recent essays include “Assessing the ARF and CSCAP” and, with Iain Johnston, “China’s Engagement with Multilateral Security Institutions” and “Cooperative Security and Its Discontents in Asia Pacific: The ASEAN Connection”; and on East Asian regionalism. He is now directing a research and exchange program on cooperative and human security in Southeast Asia. His current writing focusses on track-two security processes in Asia, emerging security frameworks in the North Pacific. Visiting Scholar, Asia Center, Harvard University (1997-99). Directed project on “The New Institutionalism in Asia.” Awarded Abe Fellowship (1998-99), for research in the U.S. and Japan on the connection between bilateral security alliances and emerging multilateral institutions in Asia.
