He developed leadership and team practices to build more cohesive and more effective organizations. A career Naval Special Warfare Officer (SEAL), he retired from the United States Navy, having deployed overseas seven times and conducting exercises and operations in over 30 countries worldwide.
He was also a 9/11 First Responder arriving on scene at 1 W.T.C., as the only Navy SEAL to have been at the Pentagon and Ground Zero on 9/11.
On 9/11/01, he worked in Crystal City, VA, when terrorists attacked the United States. When the Pentagon was hit, he ran to assist but was prevented from entering the immediate area by Secret Service personnel. When he approached the Pentagon site, he also called a friend (Firefighter) who was a member of the N.Y.F.D. I asked firefighters if I could help and was told they could use every man.
Pete told his Commanding Officer he needed to get up to N.Y. and was told to “Get up there!… we’ll take care of the paperwork!” Pete arrived at Ground Zero at approximately 1600 / 4:00 P.M. and was assigned to a six-man team. His team was the first to enter the subway path below WTC1 and also the first team into the underground garage adjacent to the West Side Highway (below WTC1).

Pete earned his Ph.D. in Public Service Leadership, and his doctoral dissertation is titled: Examining the Relationship Between Emotional Intelligence and Authentic Leadership in Naval Special Warfare Leadership. “The Path: Achieving Full Potential Through Self-Knowledge.”
Pete has a Bachelor of Science degree, a Master’s degree in Defense Analysis from the Naval Postgraduate School, and a Master of Military Science from the U.S. Marine Corps Command and Staff College.
Pete serves as a Research Consultant for RAND Corporation and is a Senior Fellow and Adjunct Professor: in the Sciences Executive Education Program.
