- Music – Pianist Ragtime
Richard Zimmerman, performing in the Ragtime Tent , has a long list of credits pertaining to this type of music.
“Ragtime basically makes you feel good. It is a very positive, optimistic music. Although ragtime often is thought of as piano music it also was published for bands and orchestras, Zimmerman notes.
The music was written by young people at the turn of the century.
The music reflects the optimistic mood and affects the audience.
“Audiences are very responsive. You realize you’re making them feel good.’ He notes that all the first blues that were published were ragtime.
The first blues song, “Long Lost Blues,’ was published in 1911.
