Ron Dentinger started collecting jokes, which led to his library of over 2000 humor and joke books, a collection that rivals any in the country.
Ron wrote jokes and sold them to some of the country’s all-time comedy greats, including: Rodney Dangerfield, Henny Youngman and Joan Rivers. Event planners should know that his comedy is clean, yet funny.
You have regularly seen him quoted in The Reader’s Digest and regularly hear him quoted on ABC Radio, by Paul Harvey. Ron says, “Eventually I was being asked to emcee various functions, and I was being contacted to be the program at these functions.
This soon interfered with my ‘real job’ in the hospitality industry. Then, I was selected as the winner in the ‘Funniest Person In America’ contest. I decided to leave my real job to do comedy full-time. ” Ron has been booked by corporations and associations from coast to coast, for everything from awards banquets and retirement parties, to getting a seminar off on a positive note.
His routine is never specifically geared to the group because he feels that can be risky. He says, “People are first people, and only after that, they are whatever it is they do at their job.” Ron says, “If you are not part of the group, you may not be aware of what’s sacred to the group, and what may be taboo to that group.” Ron Dentinger feels that humor not only has a place in the work place, it is actually needed. While he mostly works the banquet circuit, he is also regularly booked as the opening act for various nationally known entertainers.
His first ‘real job’ was as a police officer, where he was part of their Underwater Recovery Team, and delivered 17 babies while working on the police ambulance.
He is presently a member of The American Police Hall of Fame. Ron believes that everyone needs to have a hobby, and if you don’t have a hobby, you should be required to work fifteen hours per week for someone who does. He says, “I’m sure I’d see their faults…if they had any.”
