Thomas A. Brown, Ph.D., is a clinical psychologist in assessment and treatment of high-IQ children, adolescents and adults with ADD and related problems.
Dr. Brown has presented papers, workshops and symposia at national meetings of the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Psychological Association, American Psychiatric Association, American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, National Association of School Psychologists, American College of Nurse Practitioners, International Neuropsychological Society, the National Attention Deficit Disorder Association and CHADD (Children and Adults With ADHD).
In response to invitations, Dr. Brown has given lectures, workshops or grand rounds at hospitals, medical schools, colleges and universities, independent schools, public school systems, and at advocacy, business and professional groups throughout the United States.
He has also presented workshops at international meetings of professionals in Argentina, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, China, Costa Rica, Denmark, England, Finland, Germany, Iceland, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Scotland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and Venezuela.
For his research and teaching about ADHD Dr. Brown received an award of honor by the National Attention Deficit Disorder Assn. He has been inducted into the CHADD Hall of Fame for outstanding contributions to research and professional education about ADHD in children and adults.
Dr. Brown’s research interests and publications include assessment and treatment of ADD, especially in persons with high IQ; executive function and memory impairments in ADD; overlap of ADD and learning disorders, use of combined medications for ADD comorbidities, and problems of sleep and awakening in ADD.
He has served on the Professional Advisory Board for national CHADD and for the National Attention Deficit Disorder Association. He has published articles in professional journals and is author of the Brown Attention Deficit Disorder Scales for Children, Adolescents and Adults published by PsychCorp. He is editor of Attention Deficit Disorders and Comorbidities in Children, Adolescents and Adults.
