Undaunted, she enrolled at the University and decided to take up lacrosse. Building a dynasty, a national powerhouse, was jam-packed with All-American players, and Wendy had never even played the sport. However, through ability, tenacity, and whatever it takes determination, Wendy not only walked onto the team but also became an All-American, Captain, and Most Valuable Player for the National Champion position at the University Women’s Lacrosse Team.
(Lacrosse is a team sport of Native American origin played using a small solid rubber ball and a long-handled racquet called a crosse or lacrosse stick. The first modern women’s lacrosse game was held in Scotland in 1890.)
Employing her vaunted skills in recruiting and team building, she catapulted the fledgling program to one of the top teams in the country in its second Cinderella story tale for Wendy Stevens.
She utilized the same core skills she mastered as a champion athlete: the ability to inspire with her words, illustrate the ups and downs of her own life story, and unfailingly transform crowds into communities and communities into championship-level teams.
