William L. Davis, Ph.D., is a former manager of interpersonal communications at NCR Corp. He consults with a number of organizations on communication, leadership, performance management, team development and negotiations. He has extensive experience working with companies on a wide variety of human resource matters, including organizational transitions, performance evaluation, employee orientation / training, and staff development. He also serves as an executive coach to leaders who are looking to improve their influence and effectiveness.

Professor Bill Davis said it’s important to tie better pay to giving customer-service employees the authority to make a decision. He said that, besides paying low wages here, employers are also outsourcing many jobs, particularly telephone operations, to such places as India with great savings and no loss in service.
