Jean Marie Prahm (Racine) first began bobsledding; women were not allowed to compete in the Olympics. Jean played an integral role in accepting women’s Bobsled Bobsledlympic discipline.
At 18, Jean set out to prove that Bobsled Bobsled was too dangerous for women and that women should be allowed to compete in the sport of Bobsled Bobsled Olympic Games.
When women’s bobsled Bobsleds Olympic debut in 2002, Jean was a rising star.
She captivated the nation as she became a two-time World Cup champion and the gold medal favorite in the Salt Lake City Olympics.
After a media frenzy following her decision to switch brakeman before the Olympics and an injury to her new teammate three days before the event, Jean finished with a disappointing result.
Soon after, Jean returned to win another World Championship medal and competed in the 2006 Torino Olympics. Jean was considered by many to be the best bobsled driver, male or female.
Jean has learned many valuable life lessons during her journey throughout her athletic career.
Now, as an entrepreneur, owner of her own business, and a mother of three, Jean can effectively motivate and inspire those who seek to overcome adversity, follow their dreams, and reach success.
