Karen L. Kenney, Ph.D., MFT: Trauma, grief and loss issues compromise the bulk of my client caseload.
She finds that adults can hold the impact of childhood trauma for years before seeking psychotherapy and often mask their pain with anxiety, depression or compulsive behaviors.
Her experience is that getting to the hidden pain and strengths that each client carries through his or her daily lives and relationships are the core of healing.
There are no quick fixes, but exploring ways to accent life skills, improve self-respect and relationships are keys to building more wholeness in each person’s heart, mind, body and spirit.
The host of “The Yoga Show With Karen” on TV,
She develops and leads workshops which use yoga as a tool for discovering, creating and sustaining an authentic writing process, practice and way of life.
Her experiences include working with trauma and rape survivors, delinquent teens, the severely mentally ill and with the dying in hospice care and their families.
She was a staff writer and reporter for a local newspaper for nine years where she rekindled her interest in psychology.
